 Gardening - Frank Murrieta

Flavor Profile of an Improved Typica

Improved Typica is distinguished by its bright and balanced acidity, accompanied by a soft sweetness. The predominant flavors typically include floral and citrus notes, such as jasmine and lemon, combined with nuances of caramel and chocolate. This gives the coffee a very refined and elegant structure in the mouth.

The Washing Process...

It is one of the most widely used methods for processing coffee and is recognized for its ability to bring out the clarity and freshness of the bean's flavors.

Recipe to prepare Gardening - Frank Murrieta

Ratio: 1:15
Ingredients:

- Amount of coffee: 20 g
- Water: 300 ml at 95°C
- Grinding: Medium (approximately 600 µM)

Steps to follow:

  1. Pre-infusion: Pour 70g of water over the ground coffee, making sure to cover it evenly. Let it steep for 1 minute. This step helps release gases from the coffee and improves extraction.

  2. First Pour: Add 115 ml of water in a controlled pour, making sure to cover all the coffee grounds. This will begin to extract the coffee's flavors.

  3. Second pour: After the first pour has passed through the coffee, add another 115 ml of water in the same way. This final pour completes the extraction.

  4. Full extraction should take between 3 and 4 minutes, depending on the freshness of the coffee and the contact time with the water.
